Dear Venice Families: I want to inform you the decision on the appeal in the lawsuit regarding masks, quarantines, and vaccinations has been released. The Appellate Court for the 4th District ruled on February 17, 2022, on the appeal of the Temporary Restraining Order issued by Judge Grischow on February 4, 2022, in both the student and employment cases before the Sangamon County Circuit Court. The Court dismissed the appeal as moot because the Joint Commission on Administrative Rules ("JCAR") did not extend the emergency rule implementing Executive Order 24. In short, this means the rules we have been following last week in reference to mask wearing will continue into the future. Masks are strongly recommended, but not required. Masks must be worn on school buses. Thank you.

Dear Venice Families, I want to inform you Venice CUSD #3 will be conducting business as usual on Monday, February 7th in reference to mask wearing. Since the Sangamon County ruling on the mask mandate was issued on Friday, February 4th, many school districts across the state of Illinois have been dissecting the ruling to determine what is the next best step for their school district. Since we can exercise local control outside of an executive order or IDPH guidance, I am informing you that Venice CUSD #3 will continue to keep all state mandates in place that we have been enforcing since the start of the school year that are also outlined in our Remote Learning Plan located on our school website. All students and staff will be required to wear masks on the school buses, in the school building and during all school activities. Thank you for your cooperation.
