Dear Venice Families,
I want to inform you Venice CUSD #3 will be conducting business as usual on Monday, February 7th in reference to mask wearing. Since the Sangamon County ruling on the mask mandate was issued on Friday, February 4th, many school districts across the state of Illinois have been dissecting the ruling to determine what is the next best step for their school district. Since we can exercise local control outside of an executive order or IDPH guidance, I am informing you that Venice CUSD #3 will continue to keep all state mandates in place that we have been enforcing since the start of the school year that are also outlined in our Remote Learning Plan located on our school website. All students and staff will be required to wear masks on the school buses, in the school building and during all school activities. Thank you for your cooperation.
Good Evening! On Friday afternoon, February 4th, a Sangamon County Circuit Court judge issued a much anticipated ruling in a lawsuit that challenged Governor J.B. Pritzker’s mask mandate and other COVID-19 protocols in schools. Please read a letter from the school Superintendent in reference to this ruling. Click here: https://5il.co/1588k
